Gunalda, Miva, Kingaroy and Kumbia

We left Yandina on the 9th May and headed north and deciding what we wanted to do along the way :)
We stayed at Gunalda Rest area that night.  It is a nice stop on top of a hill up from the road and there were plenty of areas for people to park.  I think we had about 10 vehicles there that night.  A couple of people in cars with tents too.
10th May
We headed West as we had been told about a nice little country drive and a lovely old bridge that was built in 1884- 1886.  [a WHOLE 12 km from Gunalda].  It is one of TWO wooden trestle, railway and road bridges in Queensland.  The DICKABRAM Bridge on the Mary River at MIVA.
The base of the bridge is 23metres above the river and the water was over the bridge in the last floods.
There was lots of debris still up against the bridge - but the locals guys were coming by and moving little bits at a time.  You can just see some of the debris to the left of the photo and in amongst the wooden span of the bridge.
Better shot of some of the debris

We stopped and had a look around the rest area and over the bridge.  There were two motorhomes there and a caravan and a couple of cars.  We spent about 1/2 hour checking it out and the we realised that the caravan and tug had 'Just Cruisin' on the front of it and a GreyNomad sticker on the back.  We know these people from the web-site.  Stopped to say hello to Jim and Leone and about 2 hours later decided that we would camp there too. :)
Leone and Jim

That afternoon we met Anne and Heather from the motorhomes and we all gathered for Happy Hour under Jim and Leone's awning out of the wind.  We were given a lovely damper by Anne and all had a good time.
 A tired 'puppy' :D

It is such a lovely stop that we stayed for THREE nights.

14 May
We only left yesterday as we had run out of staples and needed to restock. :D
We stopped in Kingaroy to get the staples and then continued on our way to Kumbia.  A lovely little town that has a caravan camp spot in town where you can hook into power for a donation and the toilet block has a HOT shower for $2.  Not bad at all.  We have visited the gift/lolly shop and the cafe.  Went to go into the doll display but unfortunately it is closed.
We are here until tomorrow morning and then we are heading out Dalby way and making our way to Nindigully.

Queensland - we are going to SEE you :)

We have been travelling now for just over a week........ YAY!!!
We left home last Saturday 6th April and headed up the coast - thinking we would stop enroute to our friend Gary.  We ll we got to Kilcoy at about 12md and decided that because we were only an hour away that we would keep going. :D
We got to Gary and Lisa's at Booie (not far from Nanango) at about 2pm and it was great to see them both.
We were lucky in that it was Lisa's weekend off - so had a full day and a bit with her before she had to go to work.  Gary was working also but he left a lot earlier in the mornings and was home just after 3.30pm.  Lisa was back at about 4.30 or 5.30 most afternoons.
During the working week - Darryl and I did some tripping around and went to Maidenwell and Coomba Falls; Memerambie, Wondai, Goomeri and Kingaroy.  Lisa was home all day Friday - so we stayed home too.
Lisa had to work 13th and 14th but we went to visit as Mitre 10 (where she works) were having a carpark sale.
After that we went to Harvey Norman - whoooooops.
Darryl got himself a new Camera at the 'Geek Sale' so he is very happy that he can now take snaps of his own.  His old camera gave up the ghost and just won't work :)

We left Gary and Lisa's this morning and did a trip to Caloundra for a connection for the van and then returned to Kilcoy.  We are currently camped in Anzac Park with 5 other campers and will head to Atkinsons Dam tomorrow (down near Lowood).  On Wednesday we will travel to Jimboomba so that we are there for our Doctors appointment on Thursday and get to see the grandkids also :D
