Not a lot of news at the moment - or so I thought :)

On the 10th April we were camped at Inglewood, Queensland and Darryl said he wanted to take me out to dinner  :) - so we went for a walk down the main road and found a great little cafe - Dorries Takeaway - who do Gluten Free meals.  Yee ha.... Lovely crumbed fish with sweet potato wedges and salad. YUM.  Darryl had ordinary fish and sweet potato wedges and Buster was with us the whole time.  Was lovley sitting in the garden beside the Cafe.  [The other cafe that we have found that offers GF options is on the main road at Nanango in QLD].

Friday 11th we awoke and decided to head to Jimboomba and spend some time with the grandchildren as they are on school holidays.  We arrived just on lunch time and had a great lunch.
Spent quality time with Beckie and the three oldest children before 'Lucky Last' woke from his sleep. Ben managed to call in on his way to Kooralbyn and it was great to hear about his drive up north and his stay at Nebo.
We then spent some time with him when Mum, Brad and Gemma went up to the shops.
We decided to stay the night so that we could also spend some time with Matt - which was good.

Saturday we packed up just before lunch and headed homeward.  Parked the van on the verge and then headed off to Ben's place to have some birthday drinks with Daniel.  His birthday wasn't until Monday but was great to catch up with him over a couple of drinks and a great BBQ dinner.

Sunday we got out and tidied the garden and started doing the mowing before it rained --- yep we had an inch in 24 hours - which will do the garden good.  We will need to tend to the garden once the ground dries out a bit.  There are a few trees that need trimming back but will have to see how we go there as we only have the green-waste bin to put it into.
Our clothes line needs replacing as a palm frond fell on it a couple of months ago and the rotary part of it is sitting at an awkward angle and is making it difficult to hang the clothes - thank goodness for the extend-a-line under the patio.  We are trying to see if we can just get the rotary part - as the base is in 20kg of concrete and I don't really feel like trying to get that out of the ground. :)

Monday I got stuck into some sewing of the quilt that I am making for 'Lucky Last' and it is coming together well.  It is a 'quilt as you go' quilt so working with manageable sized pieces which are quilted and then joined together with bias binding on the back.  Managed to get all our washing done and dry - so can repack the van.

Today we went and had our 6 monthly bloods done and did some shopping to re-stock the pantry.  It is amazing how the cost builds up :(.
As we were returning from the blood tests we noticed a marked wheel wobble in the front so called into Dunlop Tyre service at Victoria Point and had a wheel balance attended.  The drivers side had 10/30 and the passenger side had 30/60 - which apparently is NOT very good.  Now the wheels are balanced and the car is not shuddering as we drive.  We have also booked the car in for its service next week with our friendly mechanic - Paul.

I am now booked in to have my hearing aids fitted on the 1st May.  Because of all the public holidays over the next two weeks there is a BIG delay.  Will be good to have them in and not have to blast people out with the high volume on TV and radio, and not miss out on conversations.  We will then have to stay around Brisbane area for about a month - so that  they can be fine tuned.  So we are looking at what needs doing here at the house and on the van.

Nice title????  Not really :)  Couldn't think of anything else :)
We are currently sitting at home and doing things around here for a bit.
We have just spent a week at Jimboomba with Beckie and the grandkids whilst Matt and Max went camping out past Bollon and around that area.
The week started out with Gemma having the vomits for three days and then she got a chesty cough :(
Then poor Luke got the up-chucks and when we left on Sunday - he too had a chesty cough.
Beckie was having some very disturbed nights sleep and Darryl and I just kept the house clean and tidy and the meals coming when needed.
Matt and Max got home on Thursday afternoon and then Matt was sick all day Friday.
Saturday and Sunday Matt got really stuck into the plastering in the two new bedrooms and will hopefully have that finished this week so that the painting can be done before the tiles go in and then the children will have their own rooms.  It will give Beckie, Matt and the family so much more room - it will be good for them all.
We are sitting 'pretty' for the moment.  Why??? We have got a couple of weekend trips planned and then hopefully to the Campertrailers group National meet in September and the Caravan Club National Meet in Mudgee in October.  Need to save the 'pennies' to be able to go.
I am busy with doing some knitting for Miss G.  and then I have promised Beck that I will knit her a cardigan too.  She may get it next winter at this rate :D
I have also got the beginnings of a quilt for Luke on the go and there are some maintenance things that need doing at the house.  We bought a quilt for Gemma and Brad (about four years ago- and Brad's quilt has gone to Max) so may have to rethink that also.  Maybe I should do them a Nanna Quilt???!!!
I am also doing some more research into Nanna Menz's family for the BRUCE branch on the tree - so that is keeping me occupied too. 
Also getting the paperwork together for TAX time :( that is not nice :) Hoping to get a refund this year :D

Queensland - we are going to SEE you :)

We have been travelling now for just over a week........ YAY!!!
We left home last Saturday 6th April and headed up the coast - thinking we would stop enroute to our friend Gary.  We ll we got to Kilcoy at about 12md and decided that because we were only an hour away that we would keep going. :D
We got to Gary and Lisa's at Booie (not far from Nanango) at about 2pm and it was great to see them both.
We were lucky in that it was Lisa's weekend off - so had a full day and a bit with her before she had to go to work.  Gary was working also but he left a lot earlier in the mornings and was home just after 3.30pm.  Lisa was back at about 4.30 or 5.30 most afternoons.
During the working week - Darryl and I did some tripping around and went to Maidenwell and Coomba Falls; Memerambie, Wondai, Goomeri and Kingaroy.  Lisa was home all day Friday - so we stayed home too.
Lisa had to work 13th and 14th but we went to visit as Mitre 10 (where she works) were having a carpark sale.
After that we went to Harvey Norman - whoooooops.
Darryl got himself a new Camera at the 'Geek Sale' so he is very happy that he can now take snaps of his own.  His old camera gave up the ghost and just won't work :)

We left Gary and Lisa's this morning and did a trip to Caloundra for a connection for the van and then returned to Kilcoy.  We are currently camped in Anzac Park with 5 other campers and will head to Atkinsons Dam tomorrow (down near Lowood).  On Wednesday we will travel to Jimboomba so that we are there for our Doctors appointment on Thursday and get to see the grandkids also :D

Back in Queensland and Back near Brisbane :)

Hi all,
Well we were at Narrabri on our homeward journey and on Saturday we left Narrabri at 9.45am (NSW) for further north and when we reached Goondiwindi and had to turn our clocks back it became 12.30pm.  The next sign we saw said that it was 'only 3 1/2hrs to Brissy, kids' so we thought we would keep plodding on.... :-)
We got to Warwick and it was only 1 1/2 hours to Jimboomba - so we kept going.  We got to Jimboomba at 5pm and the kids were super excited - so was Beckie and Matt too when he got home.
It was so good to see them and we rang Ben and he and Daniel came over from their unit in Eagleby and spent a few hours with us too.
We have spent a lovely day today with Beckie and the children and Matt was out getting parts for the water filter to go under the sink.  He did manage to come and spend some quality time with us after lunch though.
Tomorrow the children will be at school and daycare and Matt will be at work, but we will stay at Jimboomba so that I can be here for Beckie's antenatal appointment on Tuesday morning.  We will then go back to our home in Victoria Point :-) and see Ronnie and Graeme.
Looking forward to getting everything out of the van for a thorough spring clean and so that Darryl can take out the items he wants to (his stuff only though) hehehehe.

Max safely out of Surgery and home again.

Well we got to Jimboomba on Sunday and Beckie, Matt and Max left for the Hospital at about 5.30 on Monday morning.  Gemma and Brad came out and joined us in the van.  Brad was off to school by 7.30 and then we got miss Gemma ready for 9am and prep.  Max was due to go into surgery at 9.45am but went in at 9am.  All out of surgery and back on the ward by 10.45.  by last night he was eating sandwiches and drinking and coping well.
Beckie got home at about 8.30 last night and then had to leave again this morning at 6am so she could be at the Hospital by 7am.  Yep they were discharging the kids at 7am!!!!!
 As Beckie says - the only difference is the depth of his voice - it is now higher.  He has been on the go since they got home
Yesterday was  a shocker as far as temperature goes.  It got up to 35.2 in the shade.  Today has been much better only got to 30 degrees and there was a breeze - yay.
We got home at 6pm this afternoon and Ben was cooking dinner for us. YAY!!! Thank you son!
We are to get up at 5am so that we can leave at 6am and get Ben to the airport by 7am.  He is going to Melbourne for 4 days to visit friends and family.

Trip to Jimboomba 20.11.11

Hi All,
We have had a reasonable week.  Unfortunately I have had two days this week where my world has been spinning :(  I have also had a gut upset which has kept me close to the home and toilet facilities.
Yesterday we saw the Dr and Darryl has been commenced on his management plan for Diabetes and has an appointment for the dietician coming up in a couple of weeks.  He also has to see a podiatrist for his foot car.

My dear cousin Julie has had her Mum and Dad up for a visit and today is her birthday - so I know that she will be having a great time.  Happy Birthday cous.

Tomorrow morning we will take the van out to Jimboomba and set up in Matt and Beckie's front yard.  We will be there to look after Gemma and Bradley whilst Beckie and Matt take Max into the Mater Children's Hospital to have his Tonsils and Adenoids out on Monday morning. He has a problem with snoring and occasionally stopping breathing in his sleep and hopefully this will rectify that quite a bit.
We are not sure at this stage whether he will be in overnight - so we are prepared to stay for two nights if needed.

time is flying by......

Well we have been home for two weeks and we have been having a busy time with specialist and GP appointments, dentist and eye checks.
We are going out to visit friends who will be camping at Andrew Drynan park on the Lion's Tourist Road, near Rathdowney, this weekend.  We won't be camping as Beckie is having her fund-raiser for her 'Ride to Conquer Cancer 2012' at the Jimboomba Library - and we will be in attendance.
Darryl has had to have a GTT (Glucose Tolerance Test) [a two hour blood test] and his result has come back that he has NIDDM (Non-Insulin Dependant Diabetes Mellitus) and needs to start medication.
a new round of health issues is about to begin.........
We are doing some tidy ups here at the house.  We are painting the front fence, Darryl is going to paint the metal out the front with rust-preventative and we are seriously thinking of pulling up the original carpet upstairs. It is really tatty carpet and puts a dampener on the look of the house.  Ahh well - will see what eventuates.
Young Max is to go into hospital to have his tonsils and Adenoids removed in a couple of weeks so it looks like we will be camped on their front lawn for a couple of nights to look after the kidlets.
We had the van serviced last week and the guys were really pleased with it.  We will get it serviced again in March prior to us heading of to the corner country with Wendy, Ian and Holly for Easter.
We are also planning on meeting up with Grey Nomad friends for a tag-a-long up to Darwin after that.

Buster has settled into being the ALPHA dog here and doesn't seem to be missing Andy.  Andy has settled into life at Jimboomba and the children are really enjoying having him and Bob to look after.

hmmmm need dental work

Well Darryl and I had our 6 month checkup at the dentist this morning and it seems that my gold crown has got a hole in it...  no wonder the cold drinks have been giving me pain...... :(
I have to have the gold crown removed - tooth checked for decay - remove old amalgam filling and replace and then a new crown put on...  just thinking about have to do the teeth impression is making me gag but will try and be more positive by the time I get to the dentist for it.......
Have to get done asap so that the original tooth does not decay or will need root canal therapy.   YUK.
Other than that all are well.
Spent Sunday with Beckie, Matt, Brad, Gemma and Max.  What a lovely day.  Matt and Beckie were talking about the benefits of living in the suburbs but it turns out he was 'pulling her leg'. :( There is a perfect four bedroom home for sale minutes from the water.......
Ahh well - They will continue to live at Jimboomba.

We are planning our trip to Lithgow in December and then coming home to spend New Year with the family.
Have already started planning some of our travels for 2012,
