Echuca/Moama 24/8/11

Well we have been having a lovely time here in Moama and Echuca.
We arrived last Friday and waited for Darryl's cousin - Christine - to arrive from Melbourne.
That evning we went out to dinner with Christine and her friend Jane and Janes sister Sue and her hubby Peter. What a lovely way to pass the evening.
On Saturday Christine and us two headed into town and explored the Port Area of town.

We had a lovely devonshire tea at a great little cafe and then went for a ride on the Paddlesteamer Emmylou.

Thongs on the thong tree - can you see the little TINY one?????

When we returned to Echuca, Jane was waiting for us so we all went for a wander through the Heritage part of town and had lunch at 'Fish in a Flash'.  Apparently awarded the Best Fish Shop in Victoria this year - it is English style fish and chips and everything is prepared fresh.
From here we wander back toward the port and had a drink at the Bridge Hotel.

We had a lovely afternoon sitting in the sun and chatting.  Jane left us at about 4pm and then we walked back to the carvan park, across the river bridge.
Chritine joined us for dinner and we had a lovely chicken caesar salad.
Sunday - Darryl and I went into town and he got a CD that he has been after and then we had morning tea and were joined by Christine and Jane.  We had lunch with them and then they headed back to Melbourne and the working week ahead.

Went for a walk along the boardwalk and up along the river and found LOTS of different wattle trees

Monday we had arranged to meet with some fellow Grey Nomads - which was absolutely lovely.  We spent a very pleasant 3 hours in each others company.

Tuesday I didn't start out too good but improved by about lunch time.  We went into the Holden Museum,

 then the History Museum
 in the old Police Station

and then out to the Aussie Beer Shed.
What a wonderful collection of beer cans and coke memorabillia, Furphy water carriers, Aussie design things and cans fom around the world.

Today we went out to lunch with our new friends and again it wasn't long before three hours had whizzed past.....
We hope to catch up with our friends again soon.
