Lorne Station, Lightning Ridge NSW

Well we are on our last day here at Lightning Ridge and we have had a fantastic stay.  We have been for some really long walks and have had some fantastic conversations with people here.
Yesterday we went into town and had a walk around.  Went into John Murray’s Art studio and got a couple of signed prints.  Darryl even got one of his artwork stickers for the back of the van.

We then went on 2 painted car door tours – you follow the different coloured car doors and check out the town.

The Green door tour took us to the first of the mine shafts dug in the area.

  A deep mine shaft
Someone had too much time – a maze made out of stones.
ruins of a house made out of beer cans and bottles

We then went on the Red door tour
This took us past Amigo’s Castle.
Hand made from Ironstone and reportedly has tunnels, dungeons and diggings underneath it.
Astronomers monument – each surface has a message on it.
A view of the city landscape

And last but not least J
The view from our camp spot in the caravan park.

Today we have stayed put with the van and done two loads of washing in preparation for hitting the road again tomorrow.  We will be heading to Brewarrina.

Keep safe and hoping that you are all keeping well.

Our internet is a bit hit and miss at the moment – so will send this as soon as we are able to.

Love to all

Barb and Darryl
