Back from Poona - Maryborough

We left home at 9.15am on Friday and headed up the highway toward Gympie/Maryborough.
The drive took us longer than we thought but after turning off at Gympie, we headed toward Tin Can Bay and then turned left and headed toward Maryborough.  30 kms up the road we turned right and drove the 7km into Poona.   A quiet beachside village.

our setup.
Friday night all of us attended the cafe across the road for a lovely meal.  There were 42 people there from the Caravan Club and as the locals had heard that we were having a second birthday party with live entertainment - some of them booked in as well and all up there were 70 diners at the cafe.  We had a BYO alcohol and the three course meal was followed by a cheese and fresh fruit platter.
Saturday dawned hot and balmy after an early morning rain squall.  It certainly sent quite a few of us into the pool.   Not a big pool but was cooling under the shadecloth.
At one stage there were 12 of us in the water :)  Sitting, drifting, chatting.......
Darryl participated in the fishing competition and spent most of Satrday morning in the salt water.  Caught a couple of stingrays, a leatherjacket and a few small fish but let them all go again.......

Saturday night we had a birthday party and sausage sizzle in the camp kitchen in the van park.
Darryl also went out Sunday morning and caught two little whiting - but it was enough to make him the winner of the competition.........  Sunday was even hotter than Saturay and the  airconditioner got a good workout - very bl--dy noisy - but the cool air was welcome.  Unfortunately for me the day starting off spinning and the only thing we could contribute it to was the droning and the rattling from the aircon.  Once I managed to get upright and mix with the group, we spent a fair bit of the afternoon in the pool trying to keep cool.
Sunday night we headed back to the cafe across the road and 26 of us partook of the Roast Lamb and vegie dinner.  Followed by dessert and coffee....  We had been told it was a roast only so the desseert etc was a welcome surprise.
Monday morning dawned no different to the previous two days :)  We were  up and trying to pack up before it got too hot - bugger - missed out on that.  After packing up the van we spent nearly an hour saying our goodbyes......  trying to sty in the shade as much as possible because we were both a little burnt from the previous two days........
On the road by 10.15 and made it back to Vic Point by 2pm.  Inside and Darryl had cranked up the airconditioner and then promptly went and had a Nanna Nap    :D
Meanwhile I did four loads of washing for us and one load for Ben.  Most of it is under the pergola but most of the rest got dry in a matter of an hour.........  They are predicting rain for tonight - so we will see........
