Darryl and I have just spent four days camping at the Mudjimba Caravan Park with the Morton Bay Drifters a branch of the Australian Caravan Club.
It was very hot whilst there and we all found the pool to be an essential part of the parks equipment. Everyone ended up a bit sunburnt - even with sunscreen applied regularly :(
There were 16 caravans and 1 campertrailer - US!!!!!
Some of the people during Happy Hour at 4pm.
On the Friday there was a tour of Bli Bli Castle - but we didn't make it for that. By the time we had put up the camper it was tooo hot to do much so we headed for the pool. Half of it was covered with shadecloth - so we spent a very comfortable 1 1/2 hours in the pool conversing with some of the other attendees. That afternoon Happy Hour was attended by 34 members.
That night we went to the local RSL club for dinner. It is a small club and the AC is a bit understandard BUT the meals and the atmosphere make it. We participated in the raffles and 4 members won meat trays and BBQ chickens. The club closes at 8pm :( but we all made our way back to the park - everyone chatted as we meandered the 300metres back along the road to the park.
Saturday it started to sprinkle then rain just before morning tea and because there was no covered area - everyone kept to there own awnings :)
We then gathered at 2pm for a Bocce tournament. An interesting game that lasted for 3 hours. We were therefore late for happy hour...... We were being joined by another caravan club hat was also at the park - so by 5.45 pm everyone had joined in.
We then had a communal BBQ. There are two general use BBQ"s under a small cover and then we fitted 34 people and the tables and chairs around the area. We were to have a trivia night but the lighting was very poor in the area so it was decided that we would have it just before morning tea the next morning.
We all headed back to our respective camping spot. there were a couple of rowdy gatherings at some of the vans that night!!!!!
Sunday morning dawned clear and hot. About 10 people met at 6.30 and headed out for a walk along the beach. The were out for about 40 minutes when they returned to cool off :)
9.30 arrived and we all met in the shade for the trivia competition. Darryl and I got 24 out of 50......... Some of the questions were very interesting........ Australian geography questions on rivers, mountains and state area sizes - poor old grey matter just didn't keep up!!!! We did much better on more recent topics.
We also had a group raffle draw with items donated by the members that were at the weekend. We ended up with a small hammock.......
Sunday night we all had our individual dinners and then mingled between the vans. All there were a great bunch of people.
Monday morning dawned hot again - so we packed up the trailer as soon as we had had breakfast and were debating whether to jump in the pool before we left. We didn't though - just had a cool wipe down, drank some fluids and headed off to Peachester to see friends. We visited with them until 6pm and then headed home - arriving just as a storm hit the area. So the unpacking was left until this morning.... :) :)
Hoping you are all well.
Sounds like you had a great time Barb & Darryl, a wonderful trip with great company, what more can anyone ask?
