Biggenden to Delan, Bundaberg, Gympie and Yandina along with Nambour.

26April
We left Biggenden at about 10am and called into the shop for supplies and then we drove to Delan - about an hours trip north, just out of Gin Gin.
Arrived at Heathers at about 12md and then she and Brendon returned from Bullyard.
Heather took us for a drive around the farm and up to the area where they are currently working.  Was very interesting learning all about the planting and cropping of sweet potatoes and pumpkins and sugar cane.
We left Heather with her workers (and Jessica) and headed back to the van.
Was good to meet Brendon and his children Tiffany (15) and Matthew (8)
Sunset from Brendon and Heathers Place

27April
Today I went into Bundy with Heather to get some parts for a pump for the irrigation of the new Sweet potato crop.  Was to take us just over an hour but ended up taking about 3 1/2 hours.  We got lunch for everyone on the way back.
Heather and Rebecca

When we got back Rebecca was there too – Jessica had driven over to collect her from Darren’s place.  She looks very different with dark hair.
Rebecca and Jessica

Steven is out at Theodore on some school fencing project and will return during the week.
We have all been invited to Heather's boss's 40th birthday tonight at his house.
We will leave at about 5.15pm.
28April
We had a great time last night at Jeff's party and got home at about 1.30am....
Poor Brendon then went out to move the winch (a giant sprinkler system) on the crop of cane and then has been at work since about 5.30am.
All three girls - Heather, Jessica and Rebecca went into – so we tagged along J
We took Rebecca back to where she is living with Darren.  We had a great day with all three girls though.
29April
Today we stayed around the van and I got all our washing done, including the towels and sheets.
We didn't do much else.  Buster is enjoying the fact that he can just run around.
Spending some time under the work ute......

We then cooked dinner for the family. Yesterday when in Bundaberg we went to the Sugarland shopping complex and got food supplies- as we have promised to cook dinner.
Curried chicken for everyone except Jessica who is a vegetarian.  She is going to have curried vegies.  Dinner was a major SUCCESS :D
30April
Today Darryl and I headed into Bundaberg as I saw an ad for Spotlight that has got a slightly better sewing machine for the same price as the one that I have in the van.
Got to Spotlight and asked about the Semco machine on special - was told "sorry we don't have that machine but I can give you another for the same price".  Hmmm.  But when I saw it - it is another Elna with 10 different stitches, plus a 4-step buttonhole and it has a light AND interchangeable feet.  All for $99.  Bargain.
It is Tiffany's 16th Birthday today and we are having a BBQ dinner for tea with her family and friends.  So whilst in town we got extra meat and supplies for the do.
It was a good night and everyone seemed to have a good time.  Lots of food left over though - so will have that for lunch and dinner tomorrow night.
1st May
Steven came home today......

2May
Today Heather and Brendon were lucky enough to be given the day off by the boss, so we all headed into Bundaberg and went to the 11am tour of The Distillery.  A great morning that ended with tasting of the rum.  We now have a couple of bottles of the Royal Liqueur in the van to enjoy around the campfire.  :D
Darryl, Heather and Brendon with Bundy
Barb and Heather with Bundy

We then went to the local fisho for lunch and a lovely meal that was too.
From there Brendon and Heather showed us around Bundaberg and the damage that was done by the floods earlier this year.  We then drove out to Mt Perry and Boolboonda Tunnel.

This tunnel was constructed in 1883-1884 using only pick and shovel, through solid rock.  Two crews started from opposite sides of the mountain and when meeting in the centre they were only about 1cm off perfection.  A wonderful effort I think.
We then drove to Monduran dam and had a wonderful view as the sun went down.
3May
Today we are leaving Delan and Heather and Brendon managed to get back home at about 7am to say farewell to us - which was really nice.  I have done a load of washing and will hang it out when we get to the camp spot.  We travelled down the highway and stopped at Apple Tree Creek for morning tea of Hotdogs and Ginger beer.  J
We then continued on to the Camp spot and met up with our fellow friends from the Campertrailer group.  As we pulled in so did Robyn and Lindsay Jenkinson, friends from near Toowoomba.
We stood around talking for about 15 minutes and decided on the best place to park to charge up the solar panels.  Darryl then manoeuvred the van and as I was trying to level it the passenger side tyre on the van was getting flatter  :C
We changed the tyre and then got the van sorted and had lunch at 3pm :D  Will get the tyre checked in Nambour when visiting Sheryl and Reg.
Started the campfire at 4.30pm and we have got 13 of the 14 registered members here already.  Two have only travelled from Pomona and Cooran - about 20 minutes away :)
Behind us we have got Bob and Jan and their dog Gemma - whom we met at Ceduna in SA last year.
4May
Darryl went for a drive into Gympie today to primarily get a camp chair for Buster and to refill the gas cylinder.  He got back with bread and supplies and refilled cylinder but FORGOT the chair. The rear legs on Busters chair have broken. :(
Darryl cooked scones for late supper, Nicki cooked a coffee cake and icing (wasn't very "coffee-ery" ) but very nice and then Kevin and Kathleen Beckwith cooked a lemon cake which was scrummy also.
5May
Over the course of the day we said farewell to all bar four campers.  Tonight there are only four CTG members left.  Us, Chris Rogers and her Tardis (her Campertrailer, because it can grow and grow and grow J), Bob and Jan and Gregory and Angela.
There were only 3 people around the campfire tonight at the other two couples kept to their caravans.  It started to rain at about 8pm so we all retired to our respective abodes for the night.
6May
Left Cobb and Co Campground at about 10.30am and arrived in Yandina at about 11.30.
Had lunch and contacted Sheryl and Reg and then went to their home.  We were there until 8.30pm.  Poor Buster starving by the time we got him home.  Had a lovely catch-up and dinner with Sheryl and Reg and will have them over to our caravan on Wednesday for dinner.
Ooooops – bloody hell – I forgot Jenny’s birthday L will send her a message first thing tomorrow.
7May
Rang Beckie early and wished her a Happy Birthday.
Spoke with her again when she and Ben had Lunch.
Sent Jenny a message for her birthday – which was yesterday.
Darryl took the spare caravan wheel into Bob Jane to get it checked.  It too has got a fracture in the rim which has caused it to go down.  They have replaced it with a steel rim (cost $105), and they are doing a full tyre rotation on the car with a wheel alignment and balance.  We are to take the van in on Thursday morning and they will replace the other rims for us. YAY Darryl got Buster a new chair.....
I stayed at the van and did the washing and tidied the van.  We have had rain squalls all day.
8May
Today we got up early and went to the markets at Eumundi.  Had breakfast there.  Expensive.  Markets are big but so are the prices.
Found Brian Tisdall - he used to do airbrushing in Darwin and now lives in Eumundi.  Got one of his shirts. http://www.briantisdall.com.au/shirts.htm
Got some german bread for lunch and a sweetbread for snack.  Both Darryl and I got some new Aussie Soles which are VERY similiar to my Slappas (thongs) from Darwin.
Went back to Yandina and called into the Ginger factory and got some jam and ginger beer.
back to the van and lunch and then into bed and a Nanna nap for us both.  Up at 3.30pm and getting the Cobb going for dinner.  Darryl did the vegies in the Cobb and the pork and apple on the cooktop in the van.
Sheryl and Reg arrived at 5pm and we had a lovely dinner with them and they left at 8pm as they have an early start tomorrow.
9May
Today we took the van into Bob Jane at Nambour and they put another two steel rims on the caravan.  We then headed North.  Stopped at Gympie Hungry Jacks for lunch and then continued on and stopped at Gunalda Rest area for the night.  Full phone reception so hopefully that will mean that we have full internet reception also.
Darryl having another poppy nap and Buster asleep on the bed with him.

  1. I stayed on at Cobb & Co for another week with Kim then on Mother's Day on the way to church in Gympie I had a lady run into the back of me while I was waiting to turn right where Noosa Road dog legs around to go into Gympie. Kim and I came down to Poona Paradise CP at Poona that same day then she left to go to Inskip Point on the Tuesday and I'm still here until tomorrow when I will go into Maryborough to the Wallace CP for about ten days. The car goes in for repairs on Tuesday for a week and then hopefully I can move on. Kim is doing her own thing now as she said she couldn't afford the $3o a night here at Poona. I've opted for power at M'B because if it rains etc not having the XTrail I wouldn't be able to move the Tardis anywhere. Hope to catch up with you again in the travels somewhere. Chris xx
