White Cliffs and Easter

We left Condobolin on friday morning and travelled to Nymigee via the dirt road which was 150km long.
The road wasn't too bad at all.  We arrived at Nymigee for MT and found that we had no water.  Darryl said that was impossible as he had checked the gauge that morning.  hmmm.  No water was coming out of the tap.
Took Buster for a walk to relieve himself and saw a tube hanging from under the back of the van.  Darryl got down and found that it was the tube from around the electric for the brakes.  He also found that something had knocked the drain tap on the water tank and it was gone and the tank empty.........
We continued on our way to Cobar and called into the information centre and asked if the hardware store was open.  "oh, no am'am, it is Good Friday you know".  So Darryl and Ian went back to the van and Ian took a bung out of his water jerry-can and screwed it into our tank and it held.

We then filled the water tank at the info centre - thanks very much to the lady for suggesting it.
We continued on our way and reached Baden Park rest stop 89km East of Wilcannia.  No leaking from the tank - YAY.

  Camp fire

We stayed here for the night. It was here that we found that for some reason the gas will not light the fridge..........   NOOOOOOOO.......  Will have to try and get it fixed at Broken Hill.
Here we stayed the night with some other campers and had a lovely camp fire.  The mozzies also had a great feast - US!!!!!
That night the wind came up and Ian had to go out in the night and tie it down and then remove it completely.  Darryl had to get up and wind in our annex as it was flapping a lot......
Up and on our way to Wilcannia were we arrived at about 10am.

Got fuel and went for a drive down the main street.  Such a long street - NOT...

Some lovely old sandstone buildings though.  We then went on our way to White Cliffs arriving at about 11.30am.  We then set up the van and the camper and headed out to the Red Earth Cafe for lunch.  A nice little spot which is part straw-bale house and dugout. We then went for a drive around the town and left Wendy, Ian and Holly at one of the Galleries and they then went on their won adventure around the town.
Later that afternoon we went for a drive out to Clancy's Hut, a stone hut that one of the original miners built.  It is made out of stone and wattle and daub and kept them safe when everyone else was in canvas tents.

Today we didn't start off too well.  The Easter Bunny paid the camp a visit and as it was leaving it decided to kick Wendy and I in the head :( leaving both of us with a severe case of vertigo :(.
We managed to get vertical by about 9.45am and then went for a walk into the township and around past the Solar Power Station, Bill O'Reilly Oval and back up the street and to the van park.  We had lunch and then Ian, Wendy, Holly and Darryl went out to Peery Lake.  60Km away along a dirt road and they said that it as amazing.  Lots of water and birdlife.  they saw lots of emu's and kangaroos.

Tomorrow we head to Tibooburra and have been told that as long as we drive carefully there will be no problems encountered.  YAY.  Looking forward to travelling tomorrow.
